What's Cooking?
Now let's talk about the food. Sonsonate Grill excels in offering a variety of delectable choices, particularly for breakfast. Some standout options include:

- Sonsonateco: A hearty plate comprising eggs with grilled sausage, mixed rice and beans, sweet plantains, and tortillas. It’s a flavor-packed choice that will truly satisfy your palate.
- Pupusas: This traditional dish comes with cheese and loroco, and many diners rave about the texture—cooked just right, albeit with that familiar comforting greasiness that makes them irresistible.

If this is the Salvadoran restaurant I tried with my family, it was so amazing!! The service was great , the food was outstanding. The only negative is the restaurant is very small. I would to see them in a larger place!!! I know it would be packed out all the time!!

I always pass by this restaurant but had never visited. It's on Vernon and Avalon right next to the smog check place that we use for our cars. We always thought that it was questionable because the exterior doesn't look too attractive due to graffiti. Once you park, it's a different vibe. Restaurant's parking is not that big, but it's nice to see the palm trees all around. Once you enter, it's a cute restaurant with nice decor, comfortable round tables with very comfortable chairs. Some chairs look worn out, but that's why there's a surcharge on the receipt. Can be used for repairs, utilities, maintenance, staff wages... etc. The menu is very easy to read. Fair prices compared to other local restaurants around the radius. Even with that surcharge, we paid what we normally pay at other restaurants around the neighborhood, so fair game. So we are 2 adults and one 10 month old. Restaurant is clean, Restrooms available and clean, lots of sitting area. You enter and choose your sitting preference. Service was very quick. We were greeted and received complimentary Crunchy tortilla slices with guacamole. We ordered 2 micheladas at $10 each. I got one with modelo, and my wife got a corona extra one. Large size michelada. Larger, cheaper, and tastier than other spots we normally visit. The food was so fresh and tasty. I got 3 pupusas of cheese con loroco, My wife got the Carne asada plate, and our 10th month old got the cheeseburger with French fries. It was a lot of food, great presentation, great service, friendly staff and very attentive. There was a African American couple that sat on the table directly behind us. It was great how the waitress took the time to go through the menu with them. She offered and recommended. I was jealous because their blended margaritas and plates looked amazing. Will definitely visit again. Read the reviews, but in my personal opinion... the experience today from beginning to end was great.

Definitely worth driving to South Central LA! They have parking once you turn into 43rd st to the right. During the the day ... We were able to choose our seating, the waitress came right away to take our drink orders. The food came at a decent time. All the meat was greasy Lu cooked with great grilled flavor. The rice and beans were authentic. The PUPUSAS were cooked well but a tad bit greasy ( normal) I definitely recommend coming during the week before 5 otherwise you will run into traffic and the homeless folks surrounding the place. Service was good
